Yesterday, we had the absolute pleasure of attending an incredible performance by the RGVDSA Players, and it was nothing short of inspiring! The Player’s Studio teamed up with the RGV Down Syndrome Association to bring this wonderful show to life, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect with October being National Down Syndrome Awareness Month. This production was a beautiful way to celebrate their talents and achievements through the magic of theatre.
Each play was written specifically for these amazing actors, perfectly crafted to showcase their individual skills. You could feel the excitement in the air as the RGVDSA Players took the stage, eager to perform the roles they had been working on for months.
The first act, The Gingerbread Son, had everyone in the audience smiling from ear to ear. These young actors rocked their costumes with pride and delivered their lines with so much heart. It was touching to see the dedication of every volunteer behind the scenes, ensuring that each moment went off without a hitch. The story of the old woman and her gingerbread son was charming, with an adorable twist at the end—even the Fox was hard not to love!
After a quick intermission, we dove into the next act, Hansel & Gretel. Once again, the cast absolutely nailed it. With a fun, unique twist on the classic tale, each actor brought their role to life with such charisma and pride. The Narrator did an excellent job setting the scene, and the audience was clearly enjoying every moment of this heartwarming performance.
It was an absolute joy to be a part of the audience, and a huge shoutout goes to the RGVDSA, The Player’s Studio, and all the incredible volunteers and technical crew who made this event possible.
